How do I upgrade to an annual membership plan and save money?

You can upgrade your monthly plan to an annual  membership plan at any time.

Not only does an annual membership save you money over the course of the year of being a member, if you live outside of the United States, it's also a great way to save on exchange rate fees. Annual memberships only create a single yearly transaction for you instead of twelve separate ones.

Steps to upgrade to an Annual Membership plan:
  1. If you aren't already, log in to your account.
  2. On the blue membership menu bar, click on "Welcome, [YOUR NAME]"
  3. Click on "Membership Account" from the list.
  4. In the Account Details section of your account page, if you are currently on a monthly plan, you will see a link to click on under "Membership Plan" to upgrade to the annual plan.
How do I cancel my Membership?

Obviously, we'd love to have all of our members stay in the community forever. So, It will undoubtedly make us very sad if you decide to cancel.

But, if you are intent on leaving then you will be able to do so with just 2 clicks of your mouse or trackpad from your own Membership Account page.

Steps to cancel your Membership plan:
  1. If you aren't already, log in to your account.
  2. On the blue membership menu bar, click where it says "Welcome, [YOUR NAME]"
  3. Click on "Membership Account" from the list.
  4. In the Account Details section of your account page, click on the "CANCEL" button next to your membership plan.

After canceling, you won't be billed for any future payments.

How do I update my credit card billing details?

In order to update your credit card payment method, credit card number or billing address associated with your current membership plan, just follow the steps below depending on which payment method you joined with:

Credit Card

If you joined the membership with "Credit Card" selected on the checkout page:

  1. After you have logged in, from the blue membership menu bar near the top of any page, click on the menu option "Welcome, [your name]" and then click on "Membership Account" from the list of options that comes down. This will take you to your personalized Account page.
  2. In the fourth block of information down, the one labeled "Subscriptions", you will see your membership plan listed, and then over to the right of this line of information, you will see a clickable text link labeled as "update billing details."
  3. Click this link and a little window should pop-up with the form fields where you can type in all of your new or revised card information. Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the window as some fields you will need to fill out may initially be hidden from view.
  4. When finished, click the "Update" button at the bottom of the window to save all of your changes.

NOTE: For security reasons, your credit card number, expiration date and security code are never stored on the Scan Your Entire Life website server, instead they are only stored at our credit card merchant's very secure hosting center. Therefore, your current card information is not available to be displayed in this form for you to revise. So, if you just want to update your current card already used with your SYEL membership, you will need to re-type all of the missing card information in this pop-up window.


If you joined the membership with "PayPal" selected on the checkout page:

Paypal has its own specific rules as to how its users can modify their payment information. In doing so, they won't allow us to have forms here on Scan Your Entire Life for you to update your private information.

Please visit their company website, login to your account, and follow their instructions to modify your payment method on file for your Scan Your Entire Life subscription.

PayPal Instructions

  1. Login to your account.

  2. Click the Settings icon next to "Log out".

  3. Click Payments.

  4. Click Manage automatic payments.

You can view the status of your subscription under "Status."
